The Oxford Hotel Taking Shape in Downtown Bend Oregon

Hdgoxfordhotelweb If you have recently driven or walked by NW Minnesota and Lava Street in Downtown Bend Oregon  you have likely noticed the new construction of the Oxford Hotel.  Although we haven't released an official press release on our upcoming expansion it is a known fact that High Desert Gallery is expanding.   When the Oxford Hotel opens in the fall of 2008 we will occupy about 1800 square feet of retail storefront on the corner of the building.

We love Minnesota Street, especially the shops and our soon to be neighbors.  If you haven't been down Minnesota Street lately please take the time and explore – Thump is a great coffee establishment that shouldn't be missed.  Kent and his wife do a great job on the coffee side of the house and have some thoughtful art exhibitions normally rotating monthly.  Check them out and drink some Stumptown CoffeeDouglas Fine Jewelry and Design, Staccato at the Fire Hall and more await you during your stroll.  Pegasus Books (Duncan's Blog) , Karen Bandy Design Jewelry and The Book Barn are just across Bond on Minnesota, Kebanu Gallery is around the corner on Bond and down the way at Wall and Minnesota is MockingBird Gallery, another fine art gallery concentrating on Original Art.  Don't forget to walk down the breezeway and visit the nonprofit Mirror Pond Gallery.  You can spend a good portion of your visit on Minnesota Street and capture a good essence of Downtown Bend.  Great shopping and original art can be found at Kebanu, High Desert Gallery, Mockingbird  and Mirror Pond as well as others in downtown.

This week, Jeff McDonald, Business Report for The Bend Bulletin had a nice article with Curt Baney of The Baney Corporation and their expansion to downtown Bend and the building of the Oxford Hotel.  The Hotel Image is a rendering from the Mandala Agency that was published in the Bend Bulletin's article:  Hotelier takes it up a notch

    ~~
From the Bend Bulletin's article with a quote from Curt Baney ...

The rooms of the downtown hotel will range in size from 450 square feet to 850 square feet and will be priced between $150 and $300 per night, he said. It will cater to customers who are seeking a personalized level of service and luxurious accommodations, he said.

High Desert Gallery of Central Oregon, which has locations in Sisters and Redmond, will be located at street level in the hotel and a full-service restaurant also is planned, Baney said.

“The timing is right because of the parking structure, which spring-boarded development of the hotel,” Baney said. “We love the activity in downtown Bend. It’s so vibrant and active.”

The new upscale hotel is a great asset to downtown and will really “finish off” Minnesota Street.  We truly look forward to opening in Bend and are very excited with the location, the building and the ambiance of Minnesota Street.  More information will follow and look for a “Heck of a Gallery Opening” come the fall of 2008. Until then please continue to visit High Desert Gallery & Custom Framing in Downtown Sisters and Redmond.  The gallery features Fine Art & Stellar Customer framing where we are -- The Art and Soul of Central Oregon!
