About Trisha Hassler: Lifetime quilter
and award winning Oregon Artist, Trisha has enjoyed numerous group
and one woman exhibits in the Pacific Northwest and New Zealand. A
former "Art in the Pearl" and L.O.C.A.L. 14 board member,
she has been featured in Fiber Arts Magazine, Quilting arts Magazine
and lectures about her work across the country. Trisha Hassler
embraces both torch-cut steel and improvisational quilting and
through her artistic abilities combines the two mediums in one art
form challenging the opposite ends of the artistic spectrum. "The
mixture of quilted fabrics with torch-cut steel grows from a
life-long personal fascination with the paradox," states Trisha.
"The art work in a continuing three-dimensional series titled
'Surface Connections' speaks quietly of the intricate center in our
most private being surrounded by a strong protective armor and the
interplay of the two dissimilar elements is a reminder to embrace the
ever shifting balance present in our lives." High Desert Gallery
& Custom Framing of Central Oregon is honored to represent Trisha
Hassler exclusively in Central Oregon.
About Paul Alan Bennett: Award winning
professional artist, educator, and art advocate, Paul Alan Bennett
has garnered national attention. Paul's imagery is passionately
detailed and manifests a unique perspective and style resulting in
colorful, vivid imagery sought after and collected nationally. Honors
graduate of Maryland Institute of Art and Master of Arts from The
University of La Verne (Athens Greece), Paul has excelled in the
field of watercolor and most recently in the release of a select
group of Limited Edition Fine Art Giclee Prints and worked closely
with Pendleton Woolen Mills to release limited edition tapestry
blankets. Paul's work has been reproduced for two Sisters Folk
Festival Posters and the 2008 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show poster. His
style and perspective originate from memories, life experiences and
travels that sparks many of the themes found in this Sisters artist's
work. Paul Alan Bennett's artwork is represented by High Desert
Gallery & Custom Framing of Central Oregon.
About Libby Lehman: Libby Lehman is one
of today’s top art quiltmakers. No one is more surprised by this
than she is. “ I have a wonderful family, but they weren’t
crafters”, says the native Texan. She learned how to sew in 7th
grade Home Economics. Her first exposure to quilts came when her
mother, Catherine Anthony, enrolled them in a 2-day basic quilting
class in 1971. It was love at first stitch. Starting with traditional
patterns and techniques, Libby has embraced modern machine technology
to create her own unique style. Her popular book, Threadplay with
Libby Lehman, has been updated and reprinted. Nihon Vogue of Japan
has named her one of the 88 Leaders in the Quilt World. In 2000 her
quilt, Joy Ride, was chosen one of the 100 Best Quilts of the 20th
Century. Libby’s stunning quilts are highly prized by international
collectors, museums and corporations. Libby happily spends most of
her time teaching, judging and quiltmaking. She has taught in all 50
states as well as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the UK, Germany,
Switzerland, Spain and Canada. When she isn’t traveling, she works
out of her home studio in Houston, Texas.
About Cary L Weigand: Born and raised
sixth generation in Hawaii, Cary graduated from the University of
Hawaii with a Masters of Fine Art in Ceramics and relocated to
Central Oregon in 2004. Her major interest in figure modeling expands
both the use of ceramic techniques as well as explores some
relatively neglected areas in content. Her figures evoke a sense of
mass in contrast to the loose and flowing slab work of drapery and
body appendages. This formal device provides an important ground for
the content of her work, aimed at a search for a contemporary
spirituality. Working with porcelain, a figurine is worked upward
slowly allowing each layer to dry. Then, it is painted with oxides
and glazed before firing. For nationally known artist, Cary Weigand,
ceramics is a very humanistic and tactile experience. Drawn to Asian
philosophies and Shamanism she finds they both focus on awareness of
mind, spirit, and environment. The figure represents a vehicle of
humanity. Cary's work is an expression of the subconscious and
symbolism. She states: "In this way, I seek to look deeper
within myself. I look upon each piece as that something which beckons
the impenetrable shadows of madness, or the liquid flow of existence,
day after day after day, (Or maybe this heart...) a wild beast caged
within its chest, dreaming a dream which we've already seen unfolding
before us, (time and time again). Cary's original artwork including
her fine art porcelain sculpture is available exclusively in Central
Oregon at High Desert Gallery.
About Glen Corbett: Glen, an award
winning painter, tapestry weaver and print maker makes Central Oregon
her home. She has participated in numerous one woman and group shows
in the Northwest and beyond including the Oregon Capital, Maude Kerns
Art enter, Honolulu Academy of Art, Ithaca Museum and several Fine
Art Galleries on the West Coast. Glen's work is found in private and
corporate collections worldwide including AJ Heinz, State of Hawaii,
Walsh, Walsh, & Foster, Washington Mutual Savings Bank, Black
Butte Ranch, Brooks Resources, Fred Meyer Inc. and many more. "Art
captures a very present moment, sometimes evocative of the past or
predictive of the future – but at best taps a timeless core/chord."
High Desert Gallery & Custom Framing of Central Oregon is honored
to represent Glen Corbett exclusively in Central Oregon.
About Ingrid Lustig: A professional
artist for 20 years, Ingrid works with acrylic on canvas and paper
with a strong devotion to color and form used in a symbolic way. "I
like to keep my paintings fresh, so they look like they are still in
the process of being created, even when they are finished."
Ingrid moved to Bend, Oregon in 2000 from Pendleton, where she was
executive director of Crow's Shadow Institute for the Arts, on the
Umatilla Indian Reservation. During the '70s, she worked for wildlife
conservation groups, including three years as director of a predatory
animal center in the California mountains near Reno, Nevada. Her
nonprofit group traveled to schools to bring the message that
predators like wolves, bears and cougars are an essential link in the
ecosystem. Ingrid holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Washington
State University at Pullman. She has enjoyed success as an artist and
painter and exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the
Northwest. In addition to her professional art career, Ingrid is the
Education Director for Arts Central, the Central Oregon regional arts
council located in Bend, Oregon. High Desert Gallery & Custom
Framing of Central Oregon is honored to exclusively represent Ingrid
Lustig in Central Oregon.
