March 2010 Art Events at High Desert Gallery - Bend, Redmond and Sisters Oregon

March – The month that “spring” shows early signs of appearing! The lower hiking trails start to become accessible yet downhill and cross country skiing are still great options. What ever activity you choose, get out and explore the outdoors and hike a trail or walk the downtown's of Bend, Redmond and Sisters.

In town, you'll find great shops, art galleries and restaurants and we hope you explore and step into your locally owned High Desert Gallery. We have plenty to offer - new, exciting fine art, original paintings, prints and collage and a great First Friday Event, March 5th, 2010, in our Bend art gallery. Artist Feature: High Desert Gallery is honored to announce the March Artist Feature and First Friday Artist Reception for Patricia Freeman-Martin and Rosalyn Kliot at our downtown Bend, Oregon gallery location, 10 NW Minnesota Avenue at the Oxford. The exhibition and sale will run from March 5 through March 28, 2010.

Artist Reception: The Bend First Friday Art Walk Artist Reception will be Friday March 5, from 5 to 9pm, and will feature new monoprints and mixed media paintings by Patricia Freeman-Martin and mixed media collage by Rosalyn Kliot. Live music will be provided by Central Oregon favorite, Bellavia. There will be wine, refreshments, and an opportunity to meet the artists.

High Desert Gallery Announces a Niche of New Artists in the Redmond Gallery

High Desert Gallery & Custom Framing of Central Oregon is pleased to announce a new slate of unique artists for the Redmond Oregon Art Gallery. 

 "We've worked hard to establish a great mix of artistic approaches that compliment our Central Oregon lifestyle," said Myrna Dow, High Desert Gallery owner.  "It's important to showcase artistic viewpoints that take the ordinary a bit farther, while remaining representational.  The new artists in our Redmond Gallery do this while maintaining continuity with our Sisters and Bend Gallery artists."

We invite you to visit our Redmond Gallery to view over 60 new original paintings, monoprints, collage and fiber art representing our exciting new Gallery Roster of Artists, including Kay Baker, Sue Gomen Honnell, Rosalyn Kliot, Patty Freeman-Martin, Vivian Olsen, and Sue Favinger Smith.  Work includes plein air painting and wildlife art, landscape in both watercolor and oil, as well as contemporary landscape  and still life, mixed media fiber, western art, and collage.  Future plans include the addition of more Redmond Oregon area artists including work of 3-dimensional artists and guest artists from the Sisters and Bend Galleries. 

Current Featured Artist: Sue Favinger Smith, "Perception and Imagination," featuring a new selection of oil paintings inspired by the landscape.  With "Perception and Imagination", I am prying open that window between what I perceive visually and what I can imagine.  The landscape has always been the inspirational foundation, but my work is not about topography - as beautiful as it is.  It's about being "alone" and not "lonely", about venturing into the unknown and what I might find there.
