    New Art! New Artist!

High Desert Gallery of Central Oregon is truly honored to represent Oregon artist, PatrickPhteapot272300488_1 Horsley.  Patrick, a studio potter, is recognized throughout America with work exhibited in many galleries and collected by numerous corporations, select museums and private collectors.  His artwork is strongly influenced by architecture, both primitive and contemporary with most of the work being decorative as opposed to utilitarian.  Teapots, a special interest of Patrick, have evolved into signature pieces, which are included in many collections throughout the world.

Patrick remarks, “The challenge of my work is to combine the many elements (handles, feet, spouts and lids) into a work that dances and presents a new view and image of a familiar form.  My primary interest is in the process and the physical dance of making the pots.”

The gallery has an excellent selection so please plan on stopping by sooner than later.  Patrick’s  work is featured at High Desert Gallery in Sisters and Redmond  Oregon during the month of June.

If you would like to be notified of new work by Oregon Artist, Patrick Horsley  please visit our online customer service center or call the gallery at 866-549-6250.  We send artist information out via regular mail and through our email promotional programs, including our monthly newsletter.  Visit:  Online Customer Service Help Desk and leave us your contact information.  Thank you!

    April 2006 Newsletter

Oregon Spring break is nearing a completion so for our friends to the East, North and South, Spring and Easter Breaks are things ofScisv4200350236 consideration and planning.  Spring in Central Oregon is not only fun and pleasant, it is a wonderful time to visit Central Oregon.  We will admit that we love September and the Fall more but that has to do with all the activities in Sisters in September including The Sisters Folk Festival, O Sisters, Where Art Thou? , The Sisters Jazz Festival, and more.  One thing is for sure -- You can't go Spring skiing in September! Also Smith Rock is a great place to hike in early to late Spring.

Not only is Spring in Central Oregon a great time it is the start of things "happening" - One happening is the Party of the Year in Sisters!  We have been fortunate to participate in the last few "My Own Two Hands" art celebrations and have watched the event grow and prosper.  "My Own Two Hands," affectionately called MOTH is a fund raiser activity of the Sisters Folk Festival with the beneficiaries being the Arts and Music programs in the Sisters School District.  For more information please visit:  sistersarts.org .  The 2006 MOTH event is set for Friday, April 7 (Art Stroll & Performance Evening) and Saturday, April 8 (Art Auction).  If you can, please support this great event.  Last year the event raised more than $85,000 for art and music in Sisters Schools.  There are some great works available for auction including work by many High Desert Gallery artists as well as great works by other Central Oregon Artists including Randy Redfield, Alma de la Melena Cox, Dougal Haines, Sandra Melchiori, Deb Sether, John Simpkins, and many more.

For those of you that have been on our Newsletter email for the last five years will note a BIG change in format.  In March we moved away from our graphically intense email to a text based email with a link to this newsletter.  If you didn't notice we are also blogging.  High Desert Gallery has joined the business blogging revolution.  Why you ask?  Because blogs and blogging are a great way for a business to provided information, content and relevant information to the public and clients in a timely manner.   The continuation of spam and associated issues with junk email have encouraged us to utilize RSS and XML feeds to better services you our customer.   And lastly, blogs allow for rapid deployment of information and content with images and text. When you subscribe to our Blog’s feed, you will receive information when it happens and allow you to become aware of gallery events, new releases, eBay offerings and much more in real time.  If you are interested in our RSS feed ...
